GRIFFIN HAS BEEN ADOPTED!

Picture
We are delighted to announce that Griffin has found his forever home. A home with many years of experience with Newfies, particularly seniors. He is the only pet in his new home and will receive the undivided attention, connection and love that he deserves.
Thank you so much to everyone who played a part. From transport/fostering, grooming, spreading the word and to all of those who submitted adoption applications. We were truly overwhelmed.
Griffin can't type too well (the opposable thumb thing and all), but if he could I'm sure he'd would echo our thoughts. So happy for this sweet, sweet boy.

FEBRUARY 2019 -  NEED A FOSTER - Thank You Diana

ATTENTION: We are in need of a foster home in the Denver Metro. We are hoping this would be a fairly short-term foster. We want to bring a two year old neutered male Landseer Newfoundland from New Mexico to Colorado, but to do so we will need a home willing to foster him.
The requirements are as follows:
* experience with a Newfoundland or other giant breed
* no small children
* no other animals

A yard with a six foot fence would be ideal. Without a six foot fence the Newf would need to be taken out on a leash.
If you are able to foster this boy please contact us at hcncrescue@yahoo.com
Country Newfoundland Rescue (HCNR) currently does not have any dogs available for adoption.   We are currently accepting applications for Foster, Adoption, Volunteers, Transport, Groomers.  Please visit our Applications and Form page to download an application if you have an interest and email it to hcncrescue@yahoo.com

Thank You -  Also please use our email to communicate with us because we don't get notifications of the comments left on the page..

murray update

Murray update: This may be a bit long but I want to post all the info I have. I am so grateful to his foster family and what an awesome home they have given him until his forever home comes along. It seems as though the original owner abused him and due to this he has a hard time trusting adult males. HE LOVES CHILDREN and trusts them wholeheartedly. He is your typical Newf and with time (and treats lol) can trust a male, he is just weary and a bit fearful. Here is what his foster has to say:

He is such a handsome boy! His previous owner did all she could for him. So far he has a clean bill of health and I dont expect that to change. Im not sure of his age but he doesnt seem to be a day over 7. He has great manners. Absolutely loves kids of all ages! In fact I would hate for him to go to a home without them. He attaches himself to them and doesn't like to leave their side. You can tell he completly trusts them. He likes to sleep a lot but even at his age he'll still get up and go anywhere you ask. He enjoys roaming our 4 acres with my 11 year old and occasionally taking a swim together in our pond. Murray wants to be with his people all the time. A family that has lots of time to just hang with him would be perfect. He is very timid towards men. It takes a lot of treats and patience for him to warm up to them but Murray will give anyone a chance. He will roll over into your lap and loves belly rubs. It'll be hard to let him go. The family that gets this guy will be very lucky! Just like a fine wine this guy ages well!!!

Murray - ADOPTED

From his previous owner-

"Murray is 135lb Landseer Newfoundland adopted in Denver about two years ago. At that point in time, he was very malnourished and noticeably abused. He was only 79lbs and the shelter estimated his age to be 8. My vet thinks Murray is more around 6. Murray is a submissive smiler; and LOVES to sleep! Although, he does have a little get up and go for a walk.

"I am in the military and have not had as much time as I should to have trained Murray like he needs. He know sit, down, stay, and come. He loves kids, dogs, (kids often want to take photos with him) and is good with people outside of his home, including the vet and groomer. I am not sure about him and cats, when I first got him a few years ago he was just curious about them. He is still learning to trust all people, he is shy to approach, and like to observe what is going on in a room.

"I am having to find a new home for my best friend because he recently bit someone. I am in the military and have been living with my parents since I came home. On Monday, my mother was the only one home in the basement with the dogs. A relative who has only briefly met the dogs walked into our home, yelled hello, and the dogs came running upstairs. Murray then bit her forearm, and did puncture the skin.

"I have contacted numerous trainers and behaviorists to see him and get their opinion on what to do with my big guy. The consensus seems to be his act was not out of aggression or viciousness, but of fear. They each told me that he most likely viewed this as an I welcomed guest in the home, and his behavior is not appropriate, but he should not be euthanized.

"I know I cannot keep my Murray dog, as I am leaving for another military training. I have been told he just needs a structured home and some good training, and he can be the wonderful dog I know he is.

Lilly and VooDoo are your typical Newf girls.  Two years old, sweet, easy going, lovable and friendly.  These two came into rescue together and we have high hopes of adopting them out together.  What better than one Newf...two!
