High Country Newfoundland Rescue (HCNR) is accepting applications for volunteers in all areas. Those applications are available on our Applications and Forms page (found at the top of the website).  As a Foster Home Based rescue we do not have a physical location to accept dogs and evaluate them before placing them in prospective foster homes.  It is critical that we have all our volunteers submit applications and from that point the process to meet, interview and see what areas best fit each of our incredible volunteers. All volunteers will be required to sign our Volunteer Service Agreement once approved as volunteers with HCNR.

Rescue is a rewarding and yet very hard job.  Sometimes very difficult decisions have to be made in the best interest of both applicants to foster or adopt as well as accepting dogs into rescue.

We value all our volunteers and the time and energy each volunteer gives to the service of HCNR.  Dogs who come into Rescue must be evaluated and placed in a safe and loving home while awaiting their forever home.  Some foster homes are not appropriate for all dogs.  These are difficult times for not only the family surrendering their dog(s) but for the dog(s) being displaced from what they knew as their home.  The best outcome is one that places a dog in a foster home perfect for their situation, which could require a home with no other animals, dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens etc.; or no small children. This is for the best possible home and outcome for the rescue dog.

Applicants and Volunteers should not get discouraged if they are not called upon quickly, as we have no advance notice when dogs are brought into rescue so patience as well as flexibility are key elements needed in our volunteer team.

We welcome anyone 18 years of age or older to submit a volunteer application.

High Country Newfoundland Rescue evaluate every dog being presented to rescue first by application and by email communication.

Please feel free to email us at hcncrescue@yahoo.com if you have any questions.

Thank You for opening your hearts and homes.
