High Country Newfoundland Rescue is so thrilled to announce the dog formerly known as Donny has found his forever home.  His adventures started with his new Dad who came to Colorado to meet him and take him back to Canada.  Colin Campbell, the world known author of “Free Days with George” made the forever commitment adopting Henry.  Henry has an amazing life ahead of him, living with his new Dad in Canada where sailing adventures and enjoying the beautiful shores of Canada are just a few highlights in his future.  Both Colin and Henry quickly bonded and are nothing short of the perfect team.  Colin lost George his first Landseer Newfoundland about a year and a half ago and it was now time for Colin to meet a new best friend.  We are excited to make this announcement, welcoming Henry to his new family. We would like to also thank Marshello who was his first foster home and  Diana his foster mom here in Loveland, Colorado who loved him and gave him a wonderful foster home while finding his perfect fit and forever home.   George was made an honorary member of The Amazing 8 and we are thrilled to announce now Henry is also one of our Honorary Amazing 8 members.
FREE DAYS WITH GEORGE: LEARNING LIFE'S LITTLE LESSONS FROM ONE VERY BIG DOG BY COLIN CAMPBELL IS AVAILABLE ON AMAZING.

A new Grandma Joyce Story..... The picture is of me and my Grandpa Gene and me and my new Dad Will.
Hello everyone- It’s me Izzy.
I want you to know a bit about me. I am a Newfoundland dog. My grandma Joyce and grandpa Gene say I am a beautiful girl. My story starts with me being at a wonderful home but my mom got sick and they couldn’t take care of me anymore. They were very sad. They said I would be going to a good place where people could take care of me. We talked about it and we decided it would be the very best for me.
So began my journey. I was in lots and lots of cars and went many places. The people taking me many places were so nice. Then I ended up with my grandpa Gene and grandma Joyce. At their house there were many firsts. They introduced me to many dogs. Two of them looked like me and the other three didn’t. They were nice, they just didn’t look like me.
Grandpa gene is a nice man and tried very hard to make me happy. I am kind of sad because I am not sure what is happening. Talking about doing something and doing it is totally different.
Grandma Joyce is the cookie queen. She gives cookies even if I just look at little cute. I try and look a little cute all the time. I am still sad. I am trying to understand and I have to trust that everyone will do what is best for me. Do you want to know why- well do you? Grandma Joyce said it is all about me…. No one else, just me. I think I may like this all about me thing.
The night I came I went into a crate. I don’t know if I like this crate so I think if I whine and cry, they will let me out. Well that didn’t work so well. Grandma Joyce said it was for my protection so I didn’t get into anything that would make me sick. It did work for Grandpa Gene to sleep on the couch in the same room with me. I liked that a lot. Boy did I get him….. I only laughed to myself because I didn’t want them to see.
The next day I went outside with Grandpa Gene’s newfs and another girl that they were watching. It was so much fun. We played and played. Grandpa Gene played this game he called hide and seek. I let him win. He doesn’t know it and please don’t tell him. I ran around the tree and there he was caught…. It was such fun. I found chickens next door. I have never seen a chicken like that. They had things that my Grandpa Gene called feathers…… I think I like chicken without feathers if you please. They smelled really good. Kind of like the one in the house without feathers that grandma Joyce gave me some of last night.
Grandpa Gene said I couldn’t have that chicken and that I needed to be nice to the neighbor’s chickens. Still they smell soooooo good. I checked them out bunches… I checked them out the next day and Grandpa Gene said still no chickens with feathers for Izzy. Silly Grandpa Gene. I won’t like feathers anyway. Well would you?
Then I found a thing that grandpa Gene called a cat. Well this cat thing is not as nice as the other dogs. It does run though. I didn’t chase it because Grandpa Gene said we don’t chase cats. I am not sure why. If he runs I should chase him. Well maybe not. Grandpa Gene picked up this cat thing and held it so I could smell it. It didn’t smell as good as the chickens. I did decide this cat thing must be ok if grandpa Gene likes it.
That night my grandma Joyce came home and I was just so excited to see her I jumped and put her hand in my mouth so she wouldn’t leave ever again. She said she had to go to this place called work. I don’t like work if it makes my grandma Joyce leave. Grandma Joyce said that I couldn’t put her hand in my mouth. I said ok fine. I will take your purse then you still can’t leave. Fixed you I did.
A little while after Grandma Joyce got home there were these people that came. There was a bunch of them Grandma Joyce said they were Girl scouts. They have cookies!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you know that girl scouts have cookies………….. Well then I found out that they sell cookies but not the kind of cookies that they gave me. They gave me doggie cookies. Wow…… I love Girl Scouts- oh and cookies.
The next day I went to this thing called the “vet”. He was pretty nice. He sure did a ton of poking on me and checked everything. He told Grandpa Gene I was a “good girl and a beautiful girl” He told Grandpa Gene also that I was in great shape. Whatever great shape means. I think it means cookies. You know what the vet person has cookies also. Wow everywhere I go there are cookies.
I don’t like to eat dinner though. I just have never liked it that much. Cookies are another story. Just not dinner or breakfast. Grandpa Gene and Grandma Joyce are trying lots of different things. I just don’t care too much. Grandpa Gene even fed me with his hand. Grandpa Gene put some chicken in my food. The kind without feathers. It was ok but I can take it or leave it to be honest. Then Grandpa Gene put this stuff in my food and it was so good. He said it was pumpkin. Just a little bit. So good….. I think I like dinner now.
So I go outside every day and play and play. Then I come back in and sleep. Oh and I have cookies……
I went to the “vet” again today. I forgot to tell you that there are the nicest ladies at the vet and they have cookies also. Grandpa Gene said we were going to the vet today to check for heart worms. Silly grandpa Gene of course I have a heart and it doesn’t have any worms…. The vet said so too…
We went in the car today for just a bit. Not like when I came. I did see new things. My grandma Joyce said “look Izzy it is Mile High Stadium aren’t you excited’. My Denver Broncos play there. I pretended I was to make her happy…. I have no idea what Denver Broncos are or if I would even like them my grandma Joyce likes them a lot so I guess they must be ok. I got to meet the cutest little boy and two other dogs that are like me. Well one is black and white. These doggies and this little boy have a mom and dad that are very nice. We played and played. I think I might like to go with them.
I looked at my grandpa Gene and said. What do you think? He said. Izzy this is your choice. Do you like these people and their dogs? Yes I do Grandpa Gene. Izzy it is all about you Grandpa Gene said. Then he said well Izzy they will take you to your forever home. Forever home? I wonder what that is now. Grandma Joyce and Grandpa Gene explained to me that my forever home is where I would live forever. That I would eat there and sleep there and play there and it sounds wonderful.
Today is the day that I went to my forever home. They came and got me and all of my stuff. I have lots of stuff. My grandma Joyce and grandpa Gene have these things in their eyes that I have learned are tears. I feel bad for feeling so good. Grandpa Gene said be a good girl Izzy. I said I promise Grandpa Gene…. They hugged me and hugged me.
Grandpa Gene and Grandma Joyce I wanted to thank you for letting me stay with you. I had such fun but now it’s time to go. I will always remember you. I waved goodbye and am off to my next adventure in my forever home.
Thank you to everyone who made my forever home possible.
Love
Izzy

Lilly and Molly (formerly VooDoo) were united with their forever home this past Saturday.  They all connected instantly and you can see that the girls are exactly where they are supposed to be.  They will be living it up in Carlsbad NM, running Shady Acres campgrounds and they will be wintering at their other campgrounds in Massachusetts.  Swimming and playing with their new found friends and family.  What a life!!!

I want to honor two of our HCNC members this month.  Melissa Lundgren and Michael Kliewer.  They adopted a Newfoundland named Bella from HCNC Rescue two years ago.  She also owns Moose who is also a rescue.  Last year in New Mexico, Melissa and Moose qualified for his draft title and passed with flying colors.  Of course we are always proud of all and every Newfie that passes a test and qualifies for a title, but it is not so often we see one of our members do it with a rescue.  It goes to show you all of the possibilities with a rescue dog and I want to thank Melissa and Michael for giving Moose and Bella and incredible home as well as allowing them to do the work they were always meant to do.

Bella was adopted at age 3 and she is now 5, she lives with our very own Melissa Lundgren and Michael Kliewer and Moose (a rescue too)  The two became friends the minute they saw each other. She is spoiled and queen of the household.  She is very much loved and happy in her forever home.
